TEACH Program The TEACH Program offers free tutoring services to students facing academic risk at various locations within the San Joaquin County. Tutoring is available to students from Kinder through 12th grade. Sessions are scheduled to run 2-3 times a week, lasting 50-60 minutes each. Students receive tutoring in their most challenging subject. Tutors reach out to teachers for feedback throughout the student’s enrollment in tutoring. They use the information received to lesson plan activities tailored to the student’s needs, aiming to facilitate their academic growth. If they are unable to receive feedback from a teacher, the tutor must assess the student on their own. The primary objective of tutoring is to foster the development of strong, independent learners. TEACH Program Tutoring Encourages Achievement, Coaching & Hard-work (TEACH) mentor/tutoring is the matching of a student receiving one or more below average grades with a volunteer or tutor. They meet four days a week, for 55 minutes each session. Each session allows the student and mentor to talk together and find out how each other’s day was. This bond breeds trust and a healthy, safe, comfortable environment to study in. We believe every child should be given a chance to be successful. We further believe that community volunteers; working as academic mentors and tutors, together with the school districts will provide assistance to children struggling in school the opportunity to improve academically and become successful lifelong learners. Volunteer is working under Give Every Child A Chance and will be removed if policies are not respected. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent/guardian open the account and fill out the application.
